Hi guys
This has been requested for quite a while now. The permission to let users delete the pages they created is available in the server version - but not in the cloud. We really need this feature as well.
Thanks!
Hi @-DJ- BKB
Just noticed that your question could do with an update for anyone that may not be aware. We released "Delete Own" permission last year in Confluence Cloud. Space admins can now enable it in Space Permissions for users and groups. Read more: here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-articles/Permissions-just-got-a-little-easier/ba-p/1412781

Hello DJ,
You are correct in how a user that creates a page within a space which they don’t have delete permissions is unable to delete the said page. If they create a page within their own space they can delete this page.
One of the items I can see which would impact the ability to delete a page without having delete permissions would be compliance. If a user creates a page, said page exists for years and contains proprietary information or process and is then deleted by the creator, it would cause a major issue with compliance. Further information about Compliance may be found at Compliance at Atlassian.
The workaround to this would be to grant users delete permissions of content if you wanted them to delete pages. A second workaround is to create a process to have users add a tag/label to a page called delete and have an admin process those pages for deletion.
There is an outstanding feature request for this issue which may be found at CONFCLOUD-3542.
I hope this proves helpful and gives some insight into why a user deleting their own page may cause compliance issues.
Regards,
Stephen Sifers
