Why does updating an image in attachments break it in the page

Laura Minniear March 5, 2021

I use images in my Confluence documents frequently, and those images are frequently updated after initially inserting them into the document. At my previous job, I was always able to drag the updated image file with same name as previous version into the Attachments macro, and the image displayed in the document would update automatically upon refresh.

Now, though, when I do that, the image in the page says Failed to Load, and I have to re-import it. This is a huge time sink for me. I'm using Chrome on Mac in Confluence Cloud.

It was working some time ago. We use scripts to update UMLs in documentation via Confluence API. It was working fine.

Now, on version Confluence 1000.0.0-51266ec38e21 it fails in a way you describe. They had to introduce a bug. Unfortunately I do not have rights to rise a ticket.

@Laura Minniear

Did you try the same operation on a different browser?

Best,

Haven't heard anything back - should I open a support ticket for this?
