Why are users receiving notifications for a calendar they are not watching?

DanielS December 3, 2015

Both myself and other users are receiving notifications for a calendar we are not watching. When the ellipsis is clicked, it says "Watch", indicating that we are not currently watching. This calendar is not embedded on any pages, and the users are not watchers on the site.

Same question as https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/293697 Calendars send updates if you watch the page. It is not a caching problem but rather a bug/feature. If there is no alternative option for stopping the notifications other than unfollowing the entire space (which certainly is not an option) then an issue should be raised.

In this case, the users are not watchers on a page where it is embedded (calendar is not embedded) nor on the space. So there is no reason why they would have received notifications from this calendar at any time.

it's not caching, it has nothing to do with 'watch', it's a bug, see also https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-35478

Sometimes browser cache can show you cached content. Have you tried clearing all your browser caches and revisiting the page to see if the dropdown says Stop watching as opposed to Watch
