Why are my new spaces and blog posts acting like they don't exist?

We have a staging and production server, and this problem is happening on both.

When I create a new space, it won't come up when I search for it. But if I added it to the navigation in our theme designer plug-in, I can get to it that way.

Similarly, when I create a new blog post, it won't show up in the list of the blog posts in the Blog Stream macro. The old posts will be listed, but anything new this week acts like it doesn't exist. Until I go to the actual Space Blog, then I can see all of the blogs there. 

We're not sure if it's the macros acting strange (not pulling in new posts), or if new things (spaces and blog posts) are having the problem. This is new this week, as there was no problem on Friday. To our knowledge, nothing has changed in the system since then (other than creating new spaces and such).

We restarted the Confluence instance finally, and that has seemed to do the trick so far.
