Blogposts are at space level (no heirarchy) while pages are organized at different levels within space. And blogposts are used to give out project levels announcements (even you can give past dates so that the events are arranged in the correct order). It's like a twitter stream of events.

Generally blogposts are not used to given in lot of contents, rather make a short statement about some new happenings within the project.
