What is "scheduledjob.desc.summaryEmail" for in confluence's scheduling jobs?

Suwon Jang July 4, 2012

We're using confluence 4.2 in a company.

In scheduled jobs "jobs scheduledjob.desc.summaryEmail" took about 30 minutes and it runs hourly by default?

I'm curious what this is for and could it disable the job safely?

Thanks in advance.

We just tested it. It seems to impact the "Email Notifications of Updates to Confluence Content" as well.

Hallo Suwon

I believe the purpose of that job is to produce the "recommended updates" email notification, also called the "summary email".

If you don't want Confluence to send the email, you can disable it for the entire site. This page tells you how:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Configuring+the+Recommended+Updates+Email+Notification

I'd suggest that you disable the plugin as described on the above page, and then see if that job still runs.

I hope this helps. :)

Cheers, Sarah
