We're considering overriding the default dashboard with one that calls out specific content like department-specific blogs and updates to things like our bistro menu in addition to leading people to hubs within the tool better. Was wondering what others have done to improve the experience on the first page many of our users see every day.

1. If you want to do that with your own forces - please look into https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Customising+the+Confluence+Dashboard

2. Look into two solutions:

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.simplenia.confluence.plugins.customdashboards- that is for dashboards

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.refinedwiki.confluence.plugins.theme.original- that plugin completely changes the confluence interface.

As for my experience - our clients often happy with the refined wiki interface.
