This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Editing an Office Spreadsheet from Confluence
We have a few spreadsheets that we have embedded (attached) in confluence pages and we use the Office Connector to edit.
But we have just dicovered that Confluence does not prevent 2 people from making simultaneous changes and thus the work of whoever saves first gets overwritten (lost) by whoever saves second.
Is there any way to prevent this?
Preventing conflicting edits and/or resp. revision control are long standing Confluence feature requests - please watch/vote/comment on the following issues to influence Atlassian's resp. roadmap:
Provided you are using Confluence Server, you might want to 'check out' Arsenale Lockpoint - Attachment Checkout, which allows you to explicitly Lock and unlock Confluence attachments for exclusive editing and controlled change management:
- The Lockpoint add-on provides seamless locking support for collaborating with compatible WebDAV clients, including the Microsoft Office suite. Users can also manually lock documents from within Confluence.
- Arsenale Lockpoint may be used for free on Confluence installations that use 10 or 25-user Confluence licenses.
Thanks - looks like a good product - but expensive. The 4 of us sharing the sheet are messaging eachother before making any changes.
