User does not appear in "People" listing

bfrancoeur November 17, 2014

Hi Everyone:

We just started using Confluence and we are authenticating through LDAP and it seems to working fine, with one problem.  I have a new user who just started last week.  He can login using his active directory credentials and he is listed as a user in the Users directory, but he is not showing up in the People directory.  I tried this workaround, but it didn't seem to work.

Is there a workaround for this or is there a step I'm missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Bryan

Hello,

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the people directory. It sounds like the user index task may have not triggered. Generally you can see the user after the schedule job to index the user is completed. I suggest you take the time to look into this article and review the time set of when this occurs on your environment.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Scheduled+Jobs

Now a work around would be to perform a manual index of the instance. https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Content+Index+Administration and if that doesn't work, rebuilding the content index from scratch:https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/Rebuild+the+Content+Indices+from+Scratch

How ever if this keeps happening with every new users and the scheduled job is not adding them then I suggest you put in a support ticket with the version of Confluence you are running, the SEN for your account, the AD system version and configuration you are using so that we can better assist you.

Thanks Tin, rebuilding the index worked perfectly.
