User-based authentication between confluence and JIRA does not seem to work

Deleted user March 29, 2016

The following scenario:

A user that never logged in to confluence. First time he logs in, Confluence workbox shows this message:

"... JIRA requires authentication to create notifications" Safari - Ask a question - Atlassian Answers - Screen Shot 30 Mar 2016 10.10.06.png

When you follow the link "Authorise" in the message:

-> land on JIRA page requesting read and write access: "The application Confluence would like to have read and write access to your data on..."

-> click "Allow"

-> back to confluence but the message "...JIRA requires authentication to create notifications" is still visible in the workbox and it looks just like it did not work. Clicking that link starts the whole process all over..

I'm having the same issues 3 years on - did you manage to find a solution?

We have the same issue at my company.

Application link shows as primary with a status of connected in confluence.  On both confluence and JIRA, Incoming/Outgoing authentication is configured fo 2-legged OAuth requests.

Confluence does display JIRA issues in the calendar, but the Open Notifications box in Confluence never shows any JIRA updates (which it used to do), and continues to show the JIRA requies authentication message you described above.  Hopefully someone will figure this out.
