Hi,

we have a very strange problem, which only occurs on the production system. Test environment is okay not working too. 

It is not possible for administrators to manually upload plugins, an error occurs and the following exception is logged:

Some information:

  • Confluence is 5.4
  • Normal usage is working fine
  • The system is not allowed to access the internet and though not the marketplace

Okay, the solution was quite easy: Just use the correct (supported) MySQL server version!!!!!!

Hi Adrian, it's a bit difficult to determine the cause of this issue, but it looks like something related to database communication because of the message "Communications link failure".

Here some of the things that you may to check:

  1. Update Universal Plugin Manager to the latest compatible version;
  2. Check your database server settings, specially max_allowed_packet and transaction-isolation (it must be READ-COMMITTED)
  3. Configure a validation query SQL, so that the application will validate if the connection pool isn't broken.

Thanks, for your answer. I checked the database settings and validation query, but these are set. To update UPM, I would need a manual way to do this, as upload isn't working.
