Upgrade Jira form 7.3 to 7.4 on macOS

projectbox_dev August 10, 2017

Hi,

I have installed Jira on a MacOS server and I am trying to understand how to upgrade from version 7.3 to 7.4. I was unable to find the correct documentation for mac.  Do I have to install the new version and then migrate de data or it is possible to just upgrade the system?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Helio Palaio

You can use the instructions for upgrading a Linux install.

Some directories are in different places, as Macs have a different disk layout, but nothing moves in an upgrade, so you probably won't run into that.

Sorry, but to be clear (as it isn't),

Are you suggesting we use the .bin install from linux, as the OS X install download just looks like a filesystem that would start jira out of the box...

Alternately I may move the whole instance to a QNAP NAS if this guide works:

I would be using mariadb.

However I prefer to use OS X as my main use cases for jira are to run small scale projects, and to support jira admin for clients, using my jira as a sandbox and look-see...
