There was no Start Sprint button displayed.

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Planning your sprint

After setting up the sprint the turorial said to click Start Sprint. There was no Start Sprint button to click.

There are some conditions to check first here. Firstly, you need to have the permission to start a sprint, depending on permission scheme being followed. A sprint can only be started after adding the required issues from backlog to the sprint. Then you will be able to see the Start Sprint button opposite to the sprint name.Also once the sprint is started, you wont be able to add issues to the sprint.
