This is not a common behavior for sure. Is this the latest Confluence and Team calendar versions?
I recommend to upgrade team calendar to the latest version and make sure to be using the same license type and number of users as Confluence is using.
Also check if this do replicate in a staging environment which should show if this is a problem with the application or something environmental.
