Table toolbox Table Transformer does not recognize Jira legacy as a table

Dorthe Knight May 16, 2024

We are aware that the legacy editor is due to be decommissioned. Though we have received no date as yet.

Due to this we are trying to replicate our Jira reporting from the legacy to new editor and we have found a fault.

In the new editor We have to use the Table toolbox for the Table Transformer.

When we add Jira filter tables the Table transformer does not recognize them as tables. When you use SQL T1 T2 these fail. You do not get an error in the Table Transformer but the resulting table is not transformed.

To be able to use the transformer we need to first at a one by one basis create a Table toolbox Table Excerpt for each Jira filter.

Then we back in the page insert the Table toolbox Table Transformer and when out of the macro into the page you have to insert into the frame the Table Excerpt include macro for each Jira filter for the Table transformer SQL to recognize T1, T2 etc.

I believe this is a clear fault and will need to be resolved as there should be no need to use the Table Excerpt to be able to use the Table Transformer.

Additionally there is also a failure in allowing the table transformer to be wrapped inside a Table filter.

Please can you give time lines on a resolution and indeed tell us how imminent the deco of the legacy editor is?

Regards Dorthe

Hi @Dorthe Knight ,

The Table Filter, Charts & Spreadsheets for Confluence app that you are referring to is our add-on.

We are a little bit confused by your description and ask you to refer to our support where you'll be able to share your screenshots for a better guidance.

Meanwhile, let me explain that the Table Toolbox macro is a special shell to nest different macros like you do it in the Legacy editor.

You don't need any Table Excerpt/Table Excerpt Include macros to reuse you Jira macros: you just insert the Table Toolbox macro, place your mouse cursor inside its body and insert one or several Jira Issues macros on the page. Your Jira macros are wrapped in the Table Toolbox macro.

Then you open the Table Toolbox macro settings and on the left panel you'll see your Jira tables and a bunch of our macros that you can easily arrange in various combinations. For example, wrap all your Jira tables in the Table Transformer macro and then place the Table Filter macro on top.

For example, on the screenshot below I have a manually created table subsequently wrapped in the Pivot Table and Chart from Table macros:

Hope it helps your case.

Correction

Upon further testing I do not need to use the excepts. However, I do have a challenge when I have Jira filters returning a lot of rows that it becomes a challenge inside the Table Transformer to move from one Jira filter to the other.

In the legacy we do not see the full list but just an image.

Yes, the described situation is indeed an expected behavior for the new Cloud editor. In the legacy editor and on Data Center the Jira Issues macro doesn't render in the edit mode. But in the new Cloud editor all the rows are visible immediately.
