Source editor breaking template variables

When editing the source of a page template, the template variables are broken and the variable definition shows up on top of the page.

Seems related to https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/SOURCE-106.

At the end of the comments there is a reference to an add-on that might not have this problem. I haven't tried it by myself, tough.
