Sort table by date Edited

We are using Confluence Server 7.3.1 and we have changed the date format to the german version dd-mm-yyyy. If I have a column with a date in a table, Confluence now unfortunately doesn't sort this column chronologically but by day.

So:

14.03.2020
15.02.2020
16.04.2020
17.05.2020

Instead of
15.02.2020
14.03.2020
16.04.2020
17.05.2020

Do you have any suggestions on how I can change that?

@Alexandra Montag , are you using plain text? If you're using the date picker you should get them working even changing the date format.
