Slow Login on Confluence 7.10.1

Shawna Morris January 30, 2020

We upgraded to Confluence awhile back and we've noticed incredibly slow login response times, i.e., upwards of 12 seconds. We're also noticing slowing in page navigation. We currently have the following setup:

  • CPU Type :Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2698 v3 @ 2.30GHzCPU
  • Speed(MHz) :2294
  • Num of Processors :4
  • CoresPerProcessor :1
  • Cores :0
  • ThreadsPerCore :1
  • No of Logical Processors :4
  • RAM :20480

I'm not seeing anything that would cause this kind of login degradation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Shawna,

I usually see this when the proxy is configured incorrectly after an upgrade.  Are you using a proxy?  If so check proxy settings specifically in Catalina.properties.  It could also be other items like the version of Java you are on, improperly configured ram settings, etc.  You should step through this document: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/performance-tuning-130289.html

Also are you seeing anything in the logs?  The logs should give you some insights as to what might be happeing.

Is Confluence handling the authentication or are you using AD/Crowd/Jira etc?
