Our company has about 1,000 users and are moving to Confluence. We need to know if it is best practice to allow or not allow regular users to create Team spaces ?? I realize regular users can and should be able to do persoanl spaces but should they be able to create any team space they feel they can create ?? Pros/Cons ?? Thanks.
I would strongly advise against letting all users create spaces.
You could end up with a logistical mess of spaces that would be hard to navigate, organize, or standardize in the future.
You would lose the ability to control permissions, which could create security problems. For example, your users might unknowingly expose information to anonymous users, or they might be able to export the space and exfiltrate confidential data.
Users might mess up settings and break their own spaces, but if admins don't have access, they can't fix it.
The only pro is that it would cut down on the overhead for your admins.
