Setup Evaluation Database Failed

Setting up Confluence for the first time on Server 2012 Application Server pointing to a Oracle 12c database instance.

During the Setup wizard I and seeing the following messages:
The following error(s) occurred:

  • Configuring the database failed. Couldn't create the database schema.
  • Transaction rolled back because it has been marked as rollback-only
  • Error while creating database schema: Dialect class not found:
  • An exception was encountered while processing the event: com.atlassian.confluence.event.events.admin.ConfluenceReadyEvent[source=com.atlassian.confluence.setup.DefaultHibernateConfigurator@4d8c8d42]: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.util.ArrayList cannot be cast to [Ljava.lang.Class;

Any assistance will be helpful

Hi @Brian Salzle,

I recommend opening a ticket with Support to help resolve the issue. We would be glad to help you resolve the issue. It appears that your confluence.cfg.xml is missing the proper Oracle dialect, and a Support Zip would help us help you resolve the issue.
