RSS feed with Ondemand

Khanh Hoang May 6, 2012

Hi there,

Is there any way I can get an RSS feed to show on a page if I am using Confluence Ondemand?

Our organisation has an RSS feed we would like all users to be able to see on our homepage, but as far as I can tell, the RSS macro is disabled for Ondemand. I've tried a work around using Google Gadgets but I can't seem to get that to work either.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Khanh

Hi Khanh,

This macro has in fact been disabled in Confluence OnDemand. This was done many versions ago because of the serious security issues dealing with displaying unknown HTML inside of the feed. Malicious attackers can use this to their advantage, sending a user of your site script that could, for example, steal their authentication cookie and give the attacker their Confluence login details.

This is not something that appears like we will be re-enabling in the future. The only way it is possible is to use a downloaded version of Confluence, instead of OnDemand.

Cheers,

Miranda
