Problem to refresh page with Global Look and Feel and the presence of banner

Olivier Crozier February 3, 2017

Hello,

On a Confluence space configured with the theme *Global Look and Feel*, the application header looks like:

Application Navigator | Confluence | Spaces | People | Create ... | Search | Help | Administration | Notifications | Profile

On its right side, 2 menus have a dropdown ie Application Navigator and Spaces.

In case one (or several) banner is shown above the application header, the whole confluence page (including the application header) moves up to hide a part or the entire space used by the banner.

This is very disturbing because the menu on which we just clicked is not under the mouse pointer anymore but a bit above.

Refreshing the page (F5) replaces all the elements, but sometimes the sidebar is shown a little above the page area and encroaches the application header.

In a bad disposition in this picture, you can see:

  • a part of a warning banner on top,
  • a yellow annoucement banner in front,
  • the application header,
  • the sidebar encroaching the application header,
  • the page area.

This problem does not exist:

  • with the theme Documentation Theme, and
  • with the other dropdown menus on the left side of the application header.

We are using Confluence 5.10.8.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix or workaround?

Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Olivier

So yes it seems like it is a known issue logged at CONF-33852 and CONF-39912.

The workarounds are:

  • Refresh the page: F5, scroll up and down, resize the browser window, collapse and expand the left sidebar…
  • For ordinary users: Close the current announcement banner (x) so the problem disappears until the next announcement.
  • For server administrators: Fix or ignore the warnings by clicking on the provided links in the administration banners.
