Possible to use confiforms to create jira issue, then return issue key back to THAT form entry?

Bill Mills August 11, 2020

Currently using confiforms to build a form that creates a jira issue.   As a rule, the forms are only partially completed when first submitted and are continuously updated over a set-timeframe via an 'Edit' link in a table on another page in confluence that shows all previous form entries.

I'd like to add macros into the form that would return the newly created jira issue-key back into THAT specific form record that was just submitted.  Is this possible?

Thanks!!

Hi @Alex Medved _ConfiForms_  - I have seen this video attached to several similar questions, and I also find it difficult to follow.

I think majority of users are confused as to why the subject and body of the email are not evaluated through velocity template in the first place, and why a new page needs to be instantiated in Confluence, instead of just passing the JIRA key back to the page and storing it there.

Would it be possible  to please provide the syntax to just the integration rule to store the JIRA key created on submit, so it can be used in email subject and body?

Thank you in advance.

Hi

You dont have to do that... that is just a configuration that does  that to demonstrate various aspects of ConfiForms - multiple IFTTT actions run and used of IFTTT action results in chained action executions.

There are tens of different demos and tutorials on our wiki that show simplified examples (creating Jira issues by using various IFTTT action types and saving back the created Jira issue key) https://wiki.vertuna.com/dosearchsite.action?cql=siteSearch%20~%20%22create%20jira%22%20AND%20type%20in%20(%22space%22%2C%22user%22%2C%22attachment%22%2C%22page%22%2C%22blogpost%22)&includeArchivedSpaces=false

Basically you place the https://wiki.vertuna.com/display/CONFIFORMS/Configuring+ConfiForms+IFTTT+actions+and+rules#ConfiguringConfiFormsIFTTTactionsandrules-Create(Update)ConfiFormsEntry

after the IFTTT that creates the Jira issue and save back the [iftttResult_<RESULT_NAME>], as https://wiki.vertuna.com/display/CONFIFORMS/Configuring+ConfiForms+IFTTT+actions+and+rules#ConfiguringConfiFormsIFTTTactionsandrules-CreateJiraIssue  contains the issue key in the result

Hi

You can create a Jira issue with ConfiForms and definitely can save back the Jira issue key created

Have a look at this demo https://wiki.vertuna.com/display/TEST/Create+Jira+issue%2C+save+the+created+Jira+key+back+to+ConfiForms+and+create+a+page+with+Jira+macro

And it provides the storage format for the whole setup

Hi Alex,

I've viewed this many times and unfortunately don't understand the context.  I see the IFTTT rule that is there but don't understand how that is set up. :(
