More Spaces vs More Pages

Matt Uebel July 2, 2013

I am attempting to sketch out a layout for a I.T. Infrstructure documentation Wiki using Confluence.

This can be done with a single Space, which has a hierarchy of Pages representing the large segments of the Infrastructure, whose children pages will make up the actual documentation.

The other way seems to be that, instead of a single Space, I construct a Space for each large segment.

Has anybody else come across a similar consideration? What would be the benefits and drawbacks of each approach?

Personally I'd do basically the same, create a specific space for this purpose. Actually you have many ways to achieve this and you're free to chose the best strategy.

I believe these documentations might provide some insight in how to manage your spaces:

Feel free to ask!

Read/Write/Admin permission can be set in space level, but not on page hierarchy. So if all users need access in all pages, single space will be better. If some users need access in some pages only, then go with multiple spaces.
