Migrate Confluence to another server

Obinna Okoroma February 5, 2021

I would like to migrate the same version of Confluence (6.3.3) running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 server to a new server running Windows Server 2016 with the same license key, IP address etc.  Is it possible to set up the new server with the the same license key without disrupting the current Confluence application running on Windows Server 2008 R2 until it is time to do the cutover?  Is the license key tied to the Server ID?

Thanks.

Hi @Obinna Okoroma ,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Your license key is not tied to the server ID, so you can move it over to the new server without issues. If you want to set up Confluence on the new server first to verify that everything is working you can use the developer license that you have access to and can download from my.atlassian.com. Then once you are ready to do the move then just switch the license over to your production one.
