I need to extend the Confluence login to login to another system (social media platform) and Confluence is using LDAP. Will changing from the standard authentication class to a custom authentication class cause any issues?
Custom authenticators work fine with LDAP users.
You may run into some problems where some features of the LDAP integration don't work (eg. see my answer on this other question), but you can implement equivalent functionality by hard-coding it into your authenticator.
