I have a very simple task: I want to have a pdf, which lists some issues from Jira and some text before the list. Pretty straight forward, I would presume. But NO.

When I insert the issue list to Confluence as a Jira Legacy table; I can not get all the columns to the pdf, as the table is too wide and I can't make the columns narrower in Jira Legacy.

If I insert the newer Jira Issues macro, it will display a table with around 10 rows and then it shows me scrolls bars. I DON'T WANT SCROLL BARS. I want to display the whole list. In one time. To pdf. Not some annoying scrollbars.

So it seems I have two options; either leave out some columns (I won't) or leave out most of the rows (I won't). Even the word-export has issues with table widths.

I am desperate. Please help.

Hi @Kari Kiviniemi welcome to the community.  I can see where you are coming from and can replicate the behavior.  I would suggest voting for and watching CONFCLOUD-22115 to allow exporting the PDF to be landscape.  It may or may not help with your issue, but with the Jira Legacy, and landscape.

There is also CONFCLOUD-39212 to allow table exports to Excel.

If you're distributing that list, would it work to use JQL in Jira and export your list as a workaround?

Hope that helps

Thanks for the help @Dan Breyen
Solved the problem by:

  • using Jira Legacy
  • Putting the pdf to landscape (as instructed in the link above; PDF stylesheet, space settings)
  • adding spaces, '-' characters and <shift+enter>s to hyperlinks and similars in Jira issues, so confluence can hyphenate them, instead of growing column width
