JIRA Service Desk Workflow.. Interesting one

I have a same service desk workflow with four different statuses for different request types.

Suppose if I select specific request it should skip the New Status and should directly goes to In Progress. Is this possible?

If you are going to create a Customer Request Type, then yes. You can manipulate the status during creation of the ticket.
