Is there any way I can use Confluence as a Headless CMS?

If so, is there any good front-end tool for it?

I have never seen Confluence being used that way, but as it publishes a rich REST API, I guess it should be possible. You may need to write code that translates the REST API responses to the format expected by your front-end.

An alternative you should be aware of is Scroll Viewport. It can generate a standalone website from your Confluence content. If your primary use case that you planned to solve with the headless CMS approach is to make Confluence content available as a separate website, then you should definitely check this app out!

Just to chip in with the store-front apps details because not all are created equal as they use a different approach to Confluence content.

Group A

Scroll Viewport and Instant Websites for Confluence can generate a public documentation center/website from a Confluence space that DOESN'T have anonymous access enabled.

In Scroll Viewport, you can protect the access with your company SSO if need be (that way, the content can be accessed even by your employees without a Confluence seat).

Group B

Refined and Spacecraft require that the space that's used for the public website has the anonymous access enabled.

Hi @Alex ,

As Valerie mentioned, you'll need an app to modify the appearance of Confluence if you want to create something like a website. The app Spacecraft could be a good option for you if you want to publish Confluence pages with macros (fyi, I work with the company behind the app).

Spacecraft lets you theme a space, add links to the top of the page like a menu, and most importantly Spacecraft hides native Confluence features like the Create button, space settings, page history, and more.

Hi @Alex , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your question.

There are apps which you can use to modify the UI / UX of Confluence in the cloud, like Refined - https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1221322/refined-for-confluence-cloud?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

I'm not sure if that's exactly what you are looking for but please share your feedback either way and we can try to help.

Cheers
