This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Purging Deleted Pages
Just spammed customers with thousands of emails telling them that pages and attachments that were already deleted have been purged. Is there any way to turn off space purge notifications?
Just a guess on a way to avoid notifying watchers of purged pages, is what we found works when mass-deleting attachments (or pages with a bunch of attachments): Restrict the viewing of the home page to just yourself (or the person doing the deleting). Then restore full access when through.
You would want to test it though. I don't know if there's another way; if there is hopefully someone will weigh in. If you decide to test this approach can you let us know if it worked?
Due to the numbers of pages that can sometimes be included in purge operations, it would certainly be helpful to have an option (and probably a default option) to NOT send email notifications on purged content.

Thanks Tom...I like your proposed workaround, but can you test it first?
