Is there an easy way to distinguish the different types of content presented in my Atlassian space?

I wish to allow the readers to identify between How-to Articles, User manuals, FAQs, etc. Without opening the article, the reader should be able to distinguish the different types of material from the left-hand side TOC.

Is it possible to provide this distinction?

@ABR As far as indicating this in the page tree, I think Solution 1 from @Kristian Klima is the only method native in Confluence—group under a page called How to Articles, FAQs, User Manuals or use these words in the page title so they appear in the page tree.

Otherwise, I think there are some 3rd-party apps that allow you to change the look of the page tree. You can look in the Atlassian Marketplace for apps that might fit your needs.

Hello @Barbara Szczesniak ,

Thanks for your suggestions!

I know that Solution 1 works but is a bit tedious. So I am looking for a smarter way to do it. Will try solution 2 and in case, that doesn't work out, I'll definitely look for apps in Atlassian Marketplace!

Thanks for the help!

Solution 1

You can organize the FAQ pages into a single section - either for the whole space or for individual sections.

The latter:

Section A

- Section A FAQs

  -  FAQ page 1

  - FAQ page 2

Solution 2 (not exactly what you're after but does the job)

Labels + Content by Labels + Excerpts).

Example:

This page (authored in Confluence)

https://docs.emplifi.io/platform/latest/home/cross-platform-widgets

It shows Pages that have specific label (cross_platform) AND showing Excerpts listing individual social networks.

In you case, you'd create:

- label FAQ

- a page that would list all pages labeled FAQ

- you can also create topical labels (installation, getting started) and use them in an Excerpt.

So users would open the FAQ page, see all FAQ pages and what section they belong to.

You can also turn it around and create a label installation_faq, then create the Installation FAQ page and list all pages with installation_faq label there.

Hi @Kristian Klima ,

Thank you for your well-considered solutions!

I have already been using the first solution already! But it is proving to be a little tedious in maintenance.

But I will definitely tryout Solution 2 to see if it works!

Thanks once again!

ABR
