Is there a way to automate Story points deducted from an Epic as stories are created and sized?

We are trying to visually control scope.

One way would be to size an Epic in Story points and then later, as stories are added to the epic and sized with story points, that these same points would be automatically deducted from the Epic point by point . When the story points in the Epic reduce to "0" then we are at capacity.

Can automation work for this?
