Hello Experts, 

Is it possible to customize the dashboard in a way that the section of the favorite pages  /  spaces will move up next to the 'last update' section?

I prefer to use a regular space home page as the site homepage https://confluence.atlassian.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=138140

Or to modify the dashboard you  can go to:

 General Configuration > Layouts > Global

Layout.
