Is it possible to create a cross-space index?

Shivram Ayyagari January 16, 2019

Hi,

We are setting up Confluence as our internal wiki. The idea is to create a space for each team or cross-team projects. We want to then, have an overarching index of all the spaces available in the company and use this index to navigate to where we want to go.

Is this possible and how should I go about doing it?

Best,

Shivram

Hi Shivram,

That's certainly possible!

I would recommend using a combination of the following:

  • Spaces List Macro - this you can use to show all spaces in your instance, or spaces under a certain category, your favorites, or recently added spaces.
  • Page Tree Macro - you can use this if you want to actually list the pages from a specific space. I wouldn't recommend this if you have hundreds and hundreds of pages, however. You might want to restrict it to a certain parent and children so your pages load faster.

Thankfully with Confluence, you can build any page you want using the macros provided. And don't forget, you can set a custom homepage for your users.

I hope this helps!

Regards,

Shannon
