When I run the Confluence or JIRA installer I get a message that

This application needs access to an X Server.

$ ./atlassian-confluence-5.6.6-x32.bin -c -q -varfile response.varfile
Unpacking JRE ...

You can also run this application in console mode without
access to an X server by passing the argument -c

If you have a GUI the 32 installer works fine. Seems strange that you can't install a 32-bit application on a 64-bit machine.
