Importing a Space

Chris Nix November 26, 2014

Hi

I've exported a space from one confluence site and I'm trying to get it into another. I didn't have and issue exporting it, but when I go to import the downloaded zip file I get an alert message.

Could you help me out?

Hi,

It looks as if the file has been opened by another software on your Mac. Have you unzipped and rezipped the file yourself?

The problem with this zip is, all the files are in a subfolder, so when Confluence expects to find "exportDescriptor.properties", it doesn't find it. The best solution would be to export again from your original Confluence instance. If not possible, try:

  • Copy the zip,
  • Expand it,
  • Go to the subdirectory where there is exportDescriptor.properties,
  • Select all files and folder of this subdirectory,
  • Right-click and choose "Compress 10 items" (10 is whatever number of files in your directory),
  • Try importing this new zip in Confluence.

Hope this will solve it for you.
