Importing Confluence 2.10.2 into 4.0.3

Boaz Minitzer April 22, 2012

We are consolidating 2 wiki's into a Confluence 4.0.3 installation, and I wanted to confirm with support the best way of doing that; one of the wiki's is Confluence 2.10.2, and the other a MediaWiki, am I correct in trying to backup all the data in the 2.10.2, and then import it into the 4.0.3? as per docs I saw at http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF28/Changing+the+version+of+a+space+backup, I would set up a staging server, import the data into that, and then export from the test server into the production 4.0.3.

I will submit another question for the MediaWiki.

thanks,

Boaz

Hello Boaz,

In this case from Confluence side, if you have to upgrade your 2.10.2 version until the latest version that you want to run(4.0.3 or latest), to import data from an old version (2.x) into the latest one will not work, you'll have to follow this sequence between the versions (upgrading):

2.10.2 > 3.5.17

3.5.17 > 4.x

And more information about the procedure itself you can find in this link:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Upgrading+Confluence

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

LJ.
