I am about to set up confluence in a test environment but I want to confirm if using a MSSQL database in conjunction with confluence on RHEL is in fact supported.
Hi,
as long as the single environment options are met, it should work. Using a MS SQL database (assuming the MS SQL server is a supported db server 2016 / 2017) together with an RHEL distro should work. Make sure you use the supported bundled JDBC driver for MS SQL.
One advice: MS SQL is a supported database, but not the database commonly used in production. Atlassian prefers PostgreSQL. Many companies use MySQL or Oracle. So MS SQL is not the best / heavily tested database in the Atlassian environment.
I found another question related to RHEL 7 & MSSQL: You will not be able to use the integrated MS SQL authentication.
