I am not getting email alerts for tasks that are assigned to me. How can I fix?

I was assigning to myself and you don't get emails that way by design. Noobie mistake.

Not a lot more we can say than "check the configuration, check the logs, check your email server and client settings" and then have a look at https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/Mail+Troubleshooting

I am getting emails from watches and sharing, just not for tasks. Also, the task notifications don't show up in my toolbox. What configuration should I check? Thank you for the help!
