How to transfer fields from Confluence to Jira epic?

Andrea Jerome November 18, 2019

We are trying to create an automated work request process in Confluence and Jira for users who do not have Jira access. They do have Confluence access.

The aim is to create a work request form for them to complete in Confluence. Then a technical analyst will review the request and, if appropriate, create a Jira epic from the request.

The work request form has been defined but when we try to export it into Jira as a new epic, it only transfers 2 fields (title and summary). Then we have to manually cut and paste the rest (approximately another 15 to 20 fields).  This obviously takes time, and can introduce errors.

  1. How can we automate the completion of the Jira epic from the fields in the Confluence form?
  2. How can we generate an automate reply from Confluence when a user submits a new work request?
