I want to publish a space where we have multiple pages of our guidelines for our users. I did everything that's related to giving the access to the anonymous groups for each page and space, including from the admin setting (global permission) as well. However, when I open the public link, each content/block shows 'open in confluence'. But I thought the merit of public link is to display the contents without using the confluence; for example, if you publish the page from notion for the public, it shows the contents straight up without forcing the user to use the notion. Anyone knows how to do that?confluence.PNGcess to open this'.

Hi @Suyeon , welcome to the Community,

As far as I understand, to make a page public, you can:

  • Set Up Public Access: you can refer to this document by Atlassian, regarding setting up control over whether spaces can allow public links or not, then share the URL of the Confluence space with the public. The document will guide you on setting up the access for various levels, from global, space, to site. Please also make sure that you have the right permission to set it up.
  • Use Atlassian plugins: There are many vendors offering plugins that assist you with publishing Confluence page. My organization is currently using Scroll Viewport for Confluence by K15t, and it's really useful. You can consider giving it a try. Otherwise, you can browse the Atlassian Marketplace to see which one suits your needs the most.

I hope this will help :)

Hi @Suyeon

  • I second the @Emily _ DevSamurai 's opinion on Scroll Viewport, we're using it too at Emplifi.
  • The content that does not display might be restricted (private)
    • a restricted page in a public space
    • content shared via an excerpt from a restricted space
    • a link points to restricted content (restricted page, page in a private space)

Typically, the method for allowing public access to a Confluence space is straightforward. Forget public links, forget playing with individual pages...

Simply allow anonymous access for the space in Space's permissions setup. Use page restriction to exclude individual pages.
