How to prevent appending "?src=sidebar" to sidebar URLs?

Amanda Ahn November 8, 2017

On an instance with a very recent version of Confluence Server (6.x.x), I've added custom URLs to the sidebar of a space via wiki markup in the Sidebar, header, and footer area of space administration. Default space theme.

Confluence automatically appends "?src=sidebar" to the ends of all sidebar URLs, which makes non-Confluence target links error out. (404 error) E.g., http://custom.nonconfluencesite.net  --> http://custom.nonconfluencesite.net/?src=sidebar = 404 Error

Is there any way to prevent Confluence from automatically appending the "src=sidebar" parameter/value to certain URLs?
