I created a DOC and placed the DOC under the content tree but need the DOC to show under the main Support Documentation page under label P-Q. I have add the labels from some other pages and even created a new label called P hoping it would show under that category but its not working.

@Jessica Carnagie When you say you "created a DOC," do you mean that you created a page in Confluence or that you created a smart link in your page tree to a Word (or some other type of) file?

If you are referring to a page, then the advice from @Manoj Gangwar will apply.

If you are talking about a smart link, I don't think you can assign a label to a smart link. In such a case, the file does not exist within your Confluence instance. See this page: https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/bring-all-your-work-into-confluence/

If you have a separate file that you have attached to a page within Confluence, you can add labels on the attachment (see https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/use-labels-to-organize-your-content/). According to the section at the bottom of this page, it looks like the filter by label macro is the only one that will display attachments with the label; others seem to only return pages or blogs. See https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/insert-the-filter-by-label-macro/

Hi @Jessica Carnagie Welcome to the community!

Please follow the below steps and check if this resolves your issue.

  • Label Check: Double-check the label syntax. Labels are case-sensitive in Confluence, so make sure it exactly matches the label you’re trying to use (e.g., "P" or "Q").

  • Parent Page Configuration: Make sure the "Support Documentation" page or the "P-Q" section is set up to pull in child pages based on these labels. Often, Confluence pages are configured with macros like the Content by Label macro, which dynamically displays pages that share specific labels.

  • Macro Settings: If using the Content by Label macro, confirm that the label filtering includes your new label. You can edit the macro and add or adjust the labels it’s looking for, ensuring "P" is included.
