How to migrate confluence from on-premise 2.10.x to on demand 5.5 ?

Dawn Zhang April 30, 2014

Hi team,

Our company is currently on confluence version 2.10.x, and we are evaluating the demand version and exploring the best approach to migrate to the latest on demand version.

Tried to search for upgrade documentations but seems our case is pretty complicated and better addressed by the support team?

Would like to get experts' advise regarding whether we shall do a product upgrade or just a pure data migration.

Any suggestion regarding the feasibility and approach of migrating the whole site or selected space will be highly appreciated.

Thank you!

Dawn

Thank you Timothy for such quick response! That page is very helpful.

Seems we are too far behind and the upgrade would require multiple upgrades, in addition we are already out of license support period... so we are thinking we shall just buy a new on-demand instance and selectively do the data migration.

Not sure the difference of efforts/cost required for the two approaches:

a. upgrade our installed version to 5 and then migrate to OnDemand 5.5.

b. export data into on-demand confluence 5.5.

Could you please shed some light here?

Read Step 1 (https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Upgrading+Confluence). Once you've gotten yourself to Confluence 5, support should be able to migrate your content into OnDemand.
