How to manage users in Confluence from JIRA

Karl Pfeiffer December 6, 2017

I originally set up JIRA and Confluence to share user accounts, but synchronization is now failing.

I am trying to adjust settings following the instructions under the "To connect Confluence to a JIRA application:" section here:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/connecting-to-crowd-or-jira-for-user-management-229838465.html

but how do I know what the application name and password need to be in the second bullet? (ie, Enter the application name and password that Confluence will use when accessing JIRA)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The application name and password are defined in Jira under User Management>Jira User Server:

The application will be listed but if you don't know the password you cannot view it there. You may as well set up a second application and use that, it will not make any difference to Confluence. This guide has more info: Allowing connections to JIRA for user management

The Application name and password are the ones you setup in Jira. You can always change the name and password under Administration > User Management > Jira user server. Check out https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/allowing-connections-to-jira-for-user-management-938847045.html
