How to make the root space the home directory

How do I make the root of the space, the space directory. 

If I view my space, I cannot see the page tree, egg

When I click any page, it displays. 

I'm sure it's something silly.

I managed to replicate this in our space - the reason for me was the Space's pages were orphaned from the root page.

This means that the pages which should be the root page's children weren't below it - the first set of children were inline with it, meaning they were siblings and thus there was no page tree.

To fix this, try:

1. Go to Space Settings > Content Tools > Reorder Pages
2. Ensure the next pages down from the root page are the children of the root - drag and drop them into it
3. Refresh the space
