The Code Macro plugin has been upgraded to a system plugin in Confluence 5.4. This is fine, however, I cannot install the version I prefer (version 2.1.1) because of this.
I would like to install the older version of the Code Macro plugin because of the bug the latest version introduced: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-31476
You'll need to get your hands dirty on the file system to change Confluence's bundled plugins. We have a KB article on how to do this: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/How+to+Edit+Bundled+or+System+Plugins
Note that Atlassian doesn't support this kind of configuration, so if you make a change like this and it screws things up, our support team will ask you to revert the change before troubleshooting any further.
You might be able to do it using the old plugin admin page. Not sure ... I'm not on 5.4.

Nice idea! Just tried it, however, and it will not allow me to either uninstall the Code Macro plugin or install the older version on top of it.

Ok. There are some plugins that the new plugin manager will not let you disable, but the old one will, so I was hoping that it might help out in this case.
