How to import MS excel docs?

Julio Valdez October 16, 2015

Hi,

I see the option to import MS word docs but not MS excel.  Is there a add-on for this to work?

Thanks in advance.

Version:  Confluence 5.5

Hi Julio,

It's not possible to import an Excel file into a page, however, you can attach the file into the page and visualise it using the Files and Images macro: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/display-files-and-images-245827130.html

You have two choices. You can attach an Excel doc then use the Excel macro to display it, or you can copy the cells in Excel, then create a 1x1 table in Confluence and paste the spreadsheet which will turn it into a Confluence table.

Mmm, this has come up with a couple of clients - no-one has yet managed to answer the question "what do you expect to create if you 'import' from Excel"?  A simple table, yes, but attaching it and using the Excel macro does that. How would you convert a complex set of sheets, rows and columns into a document format?  There's no generic answer anyone can code for.
