The html macros are intended for snippets of html at best, they're not a complete rendering solution and they have to live within Confluence's own framework. Your html would have to be modified so that it can be rendered within Confluence.
The iframe is a better idea, as the page is then not being affected by Confluence's html. But again, your html has to be written in a way that suits the iframe.
I'm afraid the right solutions here are:
- amend your html to be confluence or iframe friendly
- link to it instead of try to render it
- extract the data from the other system and render it in confluence
