How to display only the 'Edit Document' link, without content of the document just below?

The View File macros are being eliminated so you should probably start moving to another method such as the Attachments macro or https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/display-files-and-images-245827130.html.

Concerning the Attachments macro:

To view an Office or PDF file, click the link or thumbnail to see the full preview

=> It is limited to preview and full aside download.

However, I would still like to benefit from the 'real' edition features provided by the 'View File' macro.

Like it or not, it's going away. It was never a perfect option for us as it only worked on Windows and at least half our users are on Macs.
